In October 2017 I have started a program UI Designer Professional at RED Academy with hopes to become fluent in today's tech landscape and build my career in that field. Before I made my decision to take the course I worked as a model and an actor in the Asian market (Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok). Upon coming back to Canada I really wanted to get the skills that would allow me to start a new and interesting career and maybe one day create my own business. RED Academy seemed like a good fit.
The program started with basic training of design skills, colour theory, layouts, wireframing, idea inception, moodboards and software. We had 2 school projects and 3 community partner projects. Community partner projects were especially useful because we got to work on real projects for real companies.
In Project 1 (Solo Project) the task was to design a landing page featuring a chosen typeface. Project 2 (Group Project) - Design 4 screens for a fictional app. Project 3 (Group Project) - Together with UX Designers design a complete app for a community partner. Project 4 (Group Project) - Fully design a website for another community partner. Project 5 - (Solo Project) - Design a Tourism Campaign for a chosen country. Most of the time at school was dedicated to working on those projects with a few classes every day teaching further skills needed as a designer.

My experience at Coventry has been amazing. The course is just what I was looking for and facilities are amazing. The University offers many activities to keep you active. My student experience has been phenomenal with different experiences to choose from e.g the yoga and salsa classes, I really enjoy them because I get to meet new people and learn a new thing. I like the International student trips around the UK its cost effective and enjoyable. The lecturers are really helpful, and I can see my understanding of the course increasing more and more each day. The school in general is working on a daily basis to make life more enjoyable for students from the buildings to the social life and meals.the lecturers know what they are doing and relate classwork to real life industry experience. there is excellent student support.
