About this course

There are no formal entry requirements for entry to SVQ Level I/II. Successful achievement of Level II is required for progression to Level III, however, consideration to those with salon experience will be given. Entry is subject to successful discussion at an information session.

SVQ Level II Hairdressing

Course Aims:
A practical introduction to hairdressing, allowing you to gain hands-on skills and theoretical knowledge. Gents barbering, work experience and competition work are included in this course. On completion, you could enter the hairdressing working environment. The Level III course takes the first steps towards the managerial role.

Course Content:
- Shampoo & Condition
- Salon Reception Duties
- Cut Hair, Using Basic Techniques
- Style, Dress & Finish Hair Using Basic, Techniques
- Change Hair Colour Using Basic Techniques

Progression Opportunities:
Students who complete Level II/III Hairdressing can progress to HNC, Hairdressing, HNC Fashion Make-up and HND Make-up Artistry -, subject to interview.

Career Potential:
Students who are successful in their studies can look forward to, gaining employment within the hairdressing industry. Level III, students can gain employment at the level of junior stylist/stylist., Other opportunities may include company representatives and salon, management positions.

Course Assessment:
These courses contain both practical and theoretical based, assessments. Emphasis is placed on the practical abilities of the, student¿s work, with the essential requirement that they participate, in a realistic, commercial working environment.
