About this course
- Ask and reply to questions such as ’how much?’, ’How long?, ’Why?’, ’How come?’ or ’In what way?’.
- Confidently use a range of particle verbs and reflexive verbs.
-Able to use reflexive possessive pronouns (sin and sig) to a good standard.
-Feel confident using the imperative, past perfect and future tenses.
-Able to use the present perfect and pluperfect tenses to a good standard.
- In context hear the difference produced by the Swedish pitch accent.
We will be working with Nybörjarsvenska Textbook and exercise book (yellow and blue books with a building on the front) so do purchase these before your first session. We will be working with the latest edition which can be purchased from the European Bookshop or Grant and Cutler.
Through a combination of group and pair exercises as well as individual work. Students will be expected to spend 2 hours per week on their homework which will often combine exercises from a book with tasks relating to their personal interests and surroundings. Lessons are focused on speaking and understanding from listening but reading and writing will also be practiced. Lessons are social and it is important to be able to engage with others in a respectful way.

Course programme
Talking and asking detailed questions about news reports, public affairs and Swedish society as well as expanding vocabulary related to when and where things are happening (location and time). We will cover some Swedish culture including holidays, food, literature and film and practice expressing our own opinions and beliefs in different matters. Sources are contemporary and will include videos, news reports, blogs, works of literature and texts from a workbook.
