TAKING AND RECORDING OBSERVATIONS COURSE

Length of Course: Half-Day

Candidates: Nursing Auxiliaries

Aims and Objectives Candidates will be able to understand the importance of accurately recording observations; basic anatomy and physiology of circulation and respiration; have the necessary skills to take pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and temperature; understand weighted scoring of observations and be able to distinguish when patient falls outside acceptable parameters.

Course Content - Understand the importance of accurately recording observations - Gain knowledge on acceptable parameters for each set of obs - Know how to take pulse rate, and blood pressure - Know how to accurately record observations onto chart - Know the different methods available for temperature recording - Have the skills to take accurate temperature readings - Know how to respond to patient with pyrexia - Understand and use the weighted scoring system
