Course Content

What's this course for?
To enable you to work as an assistant to a qualified swimming teacher, providing a limited range of basic skills whilst under supervision. This course is a necessity for those wanting to become swimming teachers.

The syllabus?

  • Basic technical knowledge for the area you want to teach in
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the swimming pool environment
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to assist in conducting a session
  • Effective communication skills
  • Health and well being and swimming activity

Is there an exam?
Yes, there is a short question paper at the end of the course and students must complete a log book whilst on the course with the assistance of the course tutor. Your teaching skills will be continually assessed and supported by the tutor throughout the course.
