Description
The NVQ Teaching Assistant Level 3 is for teaching assistants who work with a high level of autonomy and take responsibility for group learning. This is suitable for those working in primary, secondary and special schools.
Qualification overview
The level 3 Qualification will provide the candidate with the ability to help organise the learning environment, the principles and practice of inclusion, health and safety and the correct use of the schools resources. The qualification is structured to allow the candidate to work at their own pace, with their own assessor during working hours. The qualification is appropriate for people wishing to go to university, people working independently or in some areas, supervising and training others in their field of work.
Timescale
3 to 18 months, dependent on the individual candidates competencies.

Core units

Awarding body
The awarding body for this qualification is Edexcel.
Assessment
To achieve the qualification candidates must successfully complete four core units and six optional units.
Assessment is through direct observation within a play setting combined with inspection of supplementary evidence such as assignments, professional discussion, witness testimonies and work products.
