To understand the role of the team leader. To appreciate the value of induction and coaching in the workplace. To learn the importance of effective communication. To learn mechanisms for planning and monitoring work. To identify strategies for motivating the work team to perform. To develop individuals as team leaders. Suitable for: Anyone in a supervisory position such as senior care workers, nurses, team leaders and first line supervisors and have team leading or coordinating responsibilities.

Course programme
This course provides a solid foundation for anyone who is entering into leadership for the first time, or has never had formal training in leadership and management. Enrolment on the course also provides a year’s FREE studying membership with the ILM. N.B Attendance is required for all 6 days over a six week period. A written assessment is required in order to achieve the certificate. If candidates have particular learning and literacy needs, please inform us before the course starts in order to make suitable arrangements for completing the assessment.

Our team leader training is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and is delivered with a total focus on the management of care services. It links with many aspects of the Registered Manager Award NVQ, by providing underpinning knowledge.
All management training and NVQ assessment can be provided to team leaders in their own place of work with one-to-one support from a dedicated St Monica Trust trainer/assessor.
Courses usually run from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Additional information
Comments: On successful completion of a knowledge assessment, receive a nationally recognised certificate from the Institute of Leadership and Management, (part of City and Guilds).
