Course programme

You will complete the course at masters level, with a body of work that demonstrates intellectual rigor, independent thought, subject knowledge and professionalism.

Our teaching team offers you expertise in research skills, concept development and the production of a specialist textile sample collection or production of related textiles products.

Course structure

Year 1 introduces you to knit, print and weave, after which you will specialise to fully explore media and materials, textile design, construction, and fabric realisation for fashion.

Year 2 offers textiles design projects aimed at appropriate fashion market sectors. You develop communication and presentation skills for the workplace reflected in a professional portfolio.

In year 3 you undertake an industrial placement. Students enjoy opportunities in the far east, Europe, UK and the USA. On your return you carry out an in-depth personal investigation within your design specialism.

In year 4 you develop a textiles product, evolved, tested and generated from an individual research question posed at the beginning of the year. This may address a broader application of the subject, beyond textiles for fashion.
