This course is about using different aspects of therapeutic writing to address your 'inner critic' as a medium for personal growth and healing. Through writing exercises, we can expose and reveal some of the unconscious message patterns we routinely send to ourselves, discovering insights and opportunities to revise our thinking and improve wellbeing. Creative writing is a key part of the course but please note that the focus is on personal development, not on writing techniques.

Course programme

We will use a variety of creative and expressive writing exercises to focus on the 'inner critic', on self confidence and self esteem. We will use various prompts such as: words, poems, art, post-cards, positive affirmations, stories, unsent letters and acrostics.

The course is experiential and practical: you will have an opportunity to try out various writing exercises and we will use them as the basis for discussion and further exploration. The exercises include individual tasks, pair work, small and large group work. You may find it useful to keep a journal in between sessions to further enhance your self awareness and improve wellbeing.
