There is a growing need for non-medical prescribers in both primary and secondary care to reflect and evaluate upon their prescribing practice. Professional bodies to which non-medical prescribers are responsible have expectations with regard to maintaining competency and validation in practice.
About this course
On completion of this course you should be able to:
Critically analyse the practical and professional issues relating to your non-medical prescribing practice, and evaluate and synthesise potential for practice development in your specialist area;
Examine and critically discuss aspects of consultation, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics relevant to the use of specialised medication in your patient care.
Analyse how therapeutics impact on patient care through the exploration of specific clinical condition(s) in your practice.
Nursing; Physiotherapy; Podiatry; Physiotherapy.
To undertake this module at Level 6 or 7, you must:
Have a professional qualification (Diploma, Degree or equivalent)
Demonstrate the ability to study at academic level 6 or 7 (degree or postgraduate level
Have a recognised Independent and Supplementary prescribing qualification and be annotated on the appropriate professional register as an Independent and Supplementary Prescriber

About this module
To underpin the non-medical prescriber’s practice it is important that they maintain a sound knowledge base in contemporary pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and therapeutics in order to contribute successfully to care in an inter-professional prescribing environment.
Offered in Blended Learning mode, this module will provide the non-medical prescriber with a sound basis for developing their current specialist prescribing practice to a more advanced level.
