Course programme
This programme is intended for young people aged 16-24 who are not currently in work, have no or very little work experience and do not have any qualification or are qualified below level 3. Traineeship offers such people an opportunity to engage in work placement with a local employer for between 6 weeks and 6 months and also engage in training in employability skills, Maths and English at College. The purpose of the programme is to prepare you for employment or apprenticeship. If you have previously been unsuccessful in applying for an apprenticeship or other jobs due to a lack of skills and experience, traineeship offers you a fresh opportunity to achieve your goal.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?You do not need to have any qualifications to apply for this programme. If you any qualifications, they must not be higher than level 2. You must, however, have the aptitude to work for three days a week in the workplace and undertake some learning at College for one day a week
What will I study ?You get on-the-job training in Health & Safety practices and essential skills in Electrical installations in the workplace. At College, you will acquire: - Functional Skills in Maths and English at up to Entry 3 level. - Level 1 Certificate in Job Search and Employment Potential
How will I be assessed ?Through assignments and tests. Your attendance and attitude on the programme will be given high consideration on your suitability for your progression to work/apprenticeship

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?The employer may require you buy your own PPE (safety boots, hard hats, gloves, etc.). Most employers will provide this.
