This course is a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the Travel and Tourism Industry. You are given the opportunity to develop broad range of knowledge from the sector, examining the different travel and tourism industry components and how they work together.
This is a practical based course where skills and knowledge are developed through a portfolio of case studies, reports, projects, role plays, presentations and discussions. On completion of the course you will have a comprehensive understanding of the key elements and components within the Travel and Tourism Industry. This extended certificate is equivalent to 1 A Level, where you will study 60 credits (4 units) during the one-year programme. You will spend the majority of your time in the classroom completing practical projects however you will also be required to participate in educational visits which are part of the course. Previous trips have included Manchester Airport, Cadbury World, Hilton Hotel, Madame Tussauds and the Peak District. Units that you will study include:

Course programme
Entry Requirements
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or maths. Alternatively you will need a Level 2 Travel and Tourism qualification with a Merit grade and Functional Skills English or Maths.
Delivery and Assessment
Our programme is 50% external exam / tasks and 50% course work which will include practical projects, presentations, reports and a portfolio. Some sections will be completed individually and some in a group to help you develop team working skills. The portfolio will be internally and externally moderated.
Progression
On completion of the Extended Certificate you have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism. Alternatively, you may like to consider a career as a Travel Agent, Customer Service Agent at a Hotel or working as a Passenger Service Agent at any International Airport.
