- the lives and achievements of both clerics- why these clerics generated controversy and the rationale/context of their views and the policies which they pursued.

Course programme
Topics covered include the radical theological ideas associated with Henson such as rejection of the Virgin Birth, anti-trade unionism and disestablishment. Similarly Hewlett Johnson’s support for pacifism in the First World War, defence of Republican Spain and his championing of Stalin’s Russia.
The half day course is a mix of tutor presentation and discussion.
