If you use your phone quite often, my advice should be the following : to take a card from a local operator, because communication costs are really okay (and less expensive than if you keep your own operator from your home country). If you are staying several months.

Costs are higher than in germany. u will spend more than at home… Enjoy your stay, travel a lot, appreciate service and efforts of university. Great place overall.
