Overview
This course will provide a basic understanding of the language of insolvency law and of how the main insolvency procedures work in practice. Throughout this overview, practical examples and case studies of what ‘insolvency’ means are used, and the course also examines the various insolvency procedures themselves.
Topics covered on this course will include
- The legal and commercial risks for directors of insolvent companies who do not take decisive action
- The various types of security which a creditor can take over the property of a company
- The advantages and disadvantages of administration, receivership, and voluntary arrangements from the point of view of creditors, directors and secured lenders
