The first title in this series introduces care workers to dementia and aims to:
- Develop an understanding of the condition and how it affects the person
- Explore myths and stereotypes and consider how these can influence the quality of care given
- Introduce the person-centred qualities that a skilled carer would reflect in their day-to-day practice
- Show how person-centred values and modified techniques can improve carers’ ability to provide responsive and supportive dementia care

An accompanying CD-ROM contains a Training Pack, which includes a Lesson Plan, 4 case studies, 2 group and/or individual exercises and 3 handouts. The CD-ROM also contains Question and Answer sheets a Trainer’s Guide and other supporting materials, all designed to help you prepare and run an effective training session.
Duration:
30 minute DVD/video in 6 sections to be used in a suggested 2 hour training session.
