A six hour insight into the historical experience of domestic abuse and violence and its impact on the individual. Focus is on practical action planning and how to risk assess a situation using DASH tool.
Who should attend?This six hour training is a bespoke training course for staff working within health and social care in the community or with tenants in supported living.
Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to- Know what is DVA , how to identify it and why individuals do remain in DVA situations
- Understand the holistic effect of historical domestic abuse on the individual
- Understand challenging behaviours towards workers as a result
- DVA in mental health
- Adopt a victim centred approach
- DVA and the law
- How to risk assess using the DASH assessment tool
- Understand ethical dilemmas such as supporting both perpetrator and victim
- Know where to access resources from the multi disciplinary team
- Understand the process of MARAC
