Once enrolled, you will receive a learning resource/information pack which includes four Units. Unit 1 - Understand Medication and Prescriptions: • Different Types of Medication and Their Uses • Classification of Medicines • Legislation and Guidelines Relating to Medication • Roles in the Medication Process • Accessing Information About Medication. Unit 2 - Supply, Storage and Disposal of Medication: • Checking Information on Medication • Procedures Concerning Medication • Requirements for Medication Storage in Different Settings • Storage of Controlled Drugs • Safe Disposal of Medication. Unit 3 - Understand the Requirements for the Safe Administration of Medication: • Preparation for the Administration of Medicines • Safe Administration of Medication • Supporting Individuals in Administering Their Own Medication • Procedures to Follow if There Are Issues With Administering Medicines • Monitoring the Effects of Medication. Unit 4 - Record-keeping and Audit Processes for Medication Administration and Storage: • Audit Processes Concerning Medications • Keeping Records Relating to Medication Up-to-date • Legislation Relating to Confidentiality • Key Definitions of Accountability and Responsibility • Accountability and Responsibility in Relation to Medication. Our highly qualified tutors are available to support you throughout your programme of study with robust feedback, advice and guidance. You will receive your own learning pack which includes learning resources/information booklets and paper-based assessments; one for each part. You must complete all assessments in the agreed timescales and submit these for marking by our team of qualified tutors. Your tutor will then provide feedback, advice and guidance to help you successfully complete the course. Upon successful completion of two assessments, you will be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medicines.
