It provides an integrative understanding of international city and regional development and the skills necessary for intervention into land and property development processes. About this course
The minimum requirement is a first degree (equivalent to a British second class Honors degree). Students whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Syllabus
The Programme is structured around three semesters. The first semester is theory-driven where students take courses delivered in the School of Geosciences and the Business School.

- Planning Theory and Practice
- Real Estate Economics
- Valuation and Finance
- Planning, Land and Environmental Law
Second Semester
- Creating Place: Design, Development and Regeneration
- Spatial Planning Strategies
- Skills and Practice in Plan Making
- Research Methods
Third Semester
- Place Identity and Culture (incorporating European Urban Environment Field Study)
- Dissertation (MSc Only)
- Case Study (Diploma Only)
Preparation of the Dissertation requires completion of prior credits. An optional English Land Law course is included for students who may wish to work in England and Wales.
Assessment
Assessment methods include in-course essays, reports, student-led presentations a number of written examinations.
Teaching
The programme is delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, field visits and small group tutorials.
Staff on the course are engaged in policy relevant research and students are exposed to this on an ongoing basis.
Dedication
12 months, full-time.
