Objectives
On successful completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

• use pattern dataset names and pattern member names
• browse and edit files
• use record layouts for browsing and editing
• control the formatted display of records
• show field offsets and field numbers
• use field-name and field-number with change, exclude, find and sort commands
• use Display to control the number and sequence of fields on the screen
• use Find commands with browse and edit
• control the display of: FILLER fields, leading zeros in numeric fields, mode prompt message line
• create and copy files
• copy records into a file
• use selection criteria when copying records
• use cross-reference files for working with files with multiple record types
• use the library utility , the dataset utility and the VSAM utility (if required)
• reformat records
• print file contents and record layout contents
• merge datasets
• compare files using unformatted and formatted criteria
• use File-AID with variable length (segmented) records
• use the Batch submit facility for common tasks
• produce extract files
• use recursive commands.
