Content:
definition of manual handling - avoidance, assessment and reduction of risk - the principles based approach and problem solving in manual handling - assisting disabled individuals to move and maintaining individual mobility - the principles of ergonomics - the principles of efficient movement - component parts of a wheelchair - keeping a wheelchair in safe working order - adjusting a wheelchair to fit the individual - practical handling skills
Successful completion of the course gives a Training for Care Attendance Certificate.
Tutors and Teaching
All tutors are TfC professional associates and health care professionals (chartered physiotherapists or nurses) and are experienced in modern approaches to manual handling.
Teaching is interactive and practical, and incorporates a problem solving approach to moving and handling issues.
