The Programme
This course is for students who have completed the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. The course develops manual skills and the student's knowledge of vehicles. At Level 2 students are introduced to diagnostics skills associated with vehicle maintenance and repair, covering both practical and theory.
The Programme Content
The course is split up into units and is assessed by a practical assessment and theory related question paper.
The qualification is made up from seven units covering the four main systems on a vehicle, engines, transmission, electrical/electronic and chassis.
Progression / Careers
Students who complete the full time Level 2 programme can progress onto an apprenticeship programme. Once employed they will be encouraged to complete the NVQ Level 2, as required.
