About this course

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements to start the course, you will be required to be in paid employment for a minimum of 16 hours per week in the industry, have a willingness to learn and an interest in maintenance and repair of vehicles.
All applicants will have to complete assessments in Literacy and Numeracy and attend an interview with a Liaison tutor prior to the offer of a place...

Essential Working Practices in Vehicle Technology
Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Principles
Engineering Skills for Vehicle Repair
- and up to eight of the following specialist units:
Vehicle Component Removal and Refitting Techniques
Vehicle Engine System Principles
Vehicle Layout and Operation of Vehicle Systems
Vehicle Fault Diagnosis
Principles and Applications of Vehicle Electrical Systems and Components
Routine Vehicle Maintenance
Vehicle Science and Applied Mathematics
Vehicle Wheels, Tyres, Steering and Suspension Systems â€" Principles and Maintenance
Vehicle Fitting Operations â€" Brake Systems
Vehicle Fitting Operations â€" Exhaust Systems
Non-Welded, Non-Structural Body Repair Processes
Vehicle Body Preparation and Application of Foundation Materials
Vehicle Valeting
You will also study Key Skills Level 1 Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology as well as completing an Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) workbook.
Course Aims
To develop the practical skills and levels of understanding expected of a mechanic.
To meet current standards in a workshop environment and to develop an awareness of customers needs.

Practical â€" you will be observed in the workplace on all aspects of the qualification including vehicle repair, maintenance, housekeeping and health & safety.
Written â€" by set assignments and tasks.
Oral â€" you will be questioned verbally.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
Progression to NVQ Level 3 or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
