About this course

On this course you will:

Gain the knowledge needed to work as a support assistant in a Veterinary Practice
Learn to assist with everyday handling and care of animals that require treatment by a vet
Gain an understanding of the different roles within a veterinary practice and the legalities involved; before diving headfirst into the fascinating world of the anatomy and physiology of cats and dogs.
Be taught vital health and safety and how to keep the animals in your care safe and settled
Also, learn the basics of veterinary pharmacy, a complex and mentally stimulating unit that will teach you a variety of vital data and knowledge.

You don't need any prior skills in the subject area to start this course.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).

Veterinary care assistants are important members of today’s modern veterinary team; working alongside veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to provide vital nursing care. Although the hours can be long and the work physically and emotionally demanding, the rewards that come from helping an animal back to health and working as part of a dedicated team make the job extremely worthwhile.

Assessment

Each unit is followed by a written tutor marked assignment (TMA), which is submitted and then marked by your tutor. You will not be required to take an external exam.
