Vine, at Queenswood Education Centre, provides individual learning programmes to meet the high levels of learning and support needs of students who are currently within special school education.
The course we offer is designed around the individual needs and aspirations of each learner.
Vine has a very motivated team of forty dedicated people, comprising mostly of teachers and learning support staff. A team of specialist full time nursing staff also support our work with students - this means those who have daily medical or support needs can access the full learning programme. Visitors always comment on the positive working atmosphere and how much the students enjoy their learning.

Course programme

The Curriculum at Vine is person centred, based on the learners Individual Learner Plan, and is built on a combination of pathway choices and tailored to meet individual needs, aspirations and identified destinations. Learners can choose modules from the following learning pathways: Creative pathway Physical pathway Vocational pathway Practical pathway Lifeskills pathway Sensory pathway Transition pathway. Learners will have the opportunity to accredit their learning, where this is appropriate. Communication skills, confidence, independence skills and self advocacy skills are embedded throughout all the pathways. Each student will develop the independent living skills needed to help meet their personal aspirations. The course is delivered at the Queenswood Education Centre, Foxcroft Close, LS6 3NT. There are no entry requirements for this course. Vine expects students to apply who are currently within special school education and who would benefit from individual learning programmes to meet their high levels of learning and support needs Next steps are planned with the learner and their circle of support via the transition planning pathway.

Additional information

Vine provides full time programmes for young people who have high support needs, severe learning difficulties, profound and complex needs or challenging behaviours.
