Who is this course for? This course is suitable for young people who want to enhance their skills to gain employment. It is also for those who have completed the Vocational Access course and are looking for a progression route into work.

Previous knowledge required: No previous knowledge is required for this course. Acceptance on the course will be through the College application and interview process.

What will I study? This course is about employment and enables you to find out about a range of careers and work opportunities. You will learn job seeking skills, interview skills and have the opportunity to improve your personal and social skills. You will also work to improve your communication skills, your number and computer skills.

What else will I do? You will have the opportunity to complete a work experience arranged by the College. There is also the opportunity to take part in the City and Guilds Hospitality and Catering course.

How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through projects and assignments as well as through observation of your work, set tasks and from evidence in your file.

What will I achieve? You will achieve a portfolio of qualifications at Level 1 based on the modules that you have undertaken

What can I do afterwards? Most learners on this course enter employment after completing this course. Some learners go on to study other vocational courses at the College.

Materials required: Appropriate personal protective equipment for practical sessions will be supplied by the college. Hospitality and Catering (Newtown Campus) will be expected to contribute to the cost of ingredients.
