A review of the requirments of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 which will give delegates an understanding of how to: Interpret risk assessments & plan to enter structures with irrespirable atmospheres. Prepare breathing apparatus for use observing duration indicators & user checks. Don & wear breathing apparatus correctly observing all fitting & performance checks. Work safely whilst wearing the apparatus. Conduct & maintain safety via dynamic risk assessments of the structure & work in progress. Undertake all user tests & hygiene procedures on the breathing apparatus on completion. Suitable for: Persons nominated to work in hostile, irrespirable atmospheres where work has been assessed and classified as Risk Level NC4 under the Water UK Scheme and who require pre assessment training to prepare them for assessment in C & G 826.

Introduction Water UK Confined Spaces City & Guilds 826 Safe Entry into the Water UK Classification Confined Spaces using self contained breathing apparatus in hostile atmospheres in NC4 Category Confined Spaces. This is a City & Guilds of London Institute certifcated competency based training and assessment course (City & Guilds Utilities Operations Scheme 5831 – Unit 826. Content A review of the requirements of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 leads to an understanding of how to:
- Interpret risk assessments and plan to enter structures with irrespirable atmospheres
- Prepare breathing apparatus for use observing duration indicators and user checks
- Don and wear breathing apparatus correctly observing all fitting and performance checks
- Work safely whilst wearing the apparatus
- Conduct and maintain safety via dynamic risk assessments of the structure and work in progress
- Undertake all user tests and hygiene procedures on the breathing apparatus on completion of the work Training Methods A high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, supplemented with classroom based tutorials and pre and post course assessments.
Additional Information
Delegates should provide a passport photograph on the day of training for production of ID Cards. For courses held at our centre in Wellingborough we can provide this service on your behalf using our on-site digital camera. Delegates attending this course should be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training. The content of this course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide full training in maintenance of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates (further information available upon request).
