Course Aims:
To develop fundamental watercolour techniques, skills and applications through tutor guidance and practical experimentation.
Course Content:
This course is designed to provide a basic practical introduction to using watercolour as a painting medium. Students will learn about the selection of materials, paper stretching, basic composition, basic techniques for the application of paint, and image presentation.
Progression:
The College offers a range of courses in Art and Design, including Watercolour classes at Intermediate NCFE level 2.

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Creative Craft (Watercolour Painting)

Other Costs:
You will need to buy watercolour paper, paints and brushes for the second lesson. A materials list will be provided in the first lesson, but the cost of materials will vary according to the quality selected.

60 Guided Learning Hours (Typically over 20-30 weeks per year)
