After a year away, we are pleased to announce the return of our Fungus Foray course with renowned mycologist and vegetarian Dr Patrick Harding. Due to popular demand the course is now a one day workshop instead of two days as this allows a maximum of 20 people to attend.
This is a fascinating course and Dr Patrick Harding’s expertise will dispel the myths and concerns around picking and eating wild mushrooms and as anyone who knows their ceps from their morels will tell you, not all fungi are equal. The taste of the cultivated wild varieties are as far removed from the complexity of flavour and texture of truly wild mushrooms as sliced white bread is from artisan handmade breads.
After coffee and refreshments on arrival the day begins with an introduction to the fascinating subject of wild mushrooms by Dr Patrick Harding. This session will also include guidelines on safe and sensible gathering before Patrick accompanies the group on an expedition to nearby woods to search for a range of different fungal species which Patrick will carefully identify.
Following your foray you will return to Cordon Vert School for a delicious late lunch of wild mushroom dishes cooked by the Cordon Vert team enjoyed with a well earned glass of chilled white wine. After lunch there will be a short session on how to prepare and cook mushrooms and an opportunity to buy signed copies of Patrick’s books on edible mushrooms.
