The course aims to explore the apparent increase in female suicide in the UK and understand the context and key recommendations for suicide prevention. The first session will focus on awareness, debunking common myths about suicide and challenging stigma. The second session will focus on strategies to support people experiencing suicidal thoughts.

The class will be taught using media articles, first hand accounts, quizzes, videos and group activities.
No prior experience or knowledge is required. Talking about suicide is likely to be emotive, especially for those who have been bereaved by suicide. Though all are welcome and encouraged to engage with the class this is not a therapeutic session. Participants should feel they are able to discuss suicide in a facilitated group.
