Entry Requirements
4 GCSE's at D/3 including English and Maths. Demonstrate an ability and aptitude for working with children aged 0 to 7 years in any setting. Successfully complete a Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) check.
Good English and Maths skills are essential for many jobs and courses you will progress on to. The Government has made it a priority for students to develop these skills and your course programme will reflect this key aim. Depending on your grades when you start your course you could either study Functional Skills or GCSEs alongside the other parts of your programme of study.

Summary
This course will train you to work in a face to face role with children, between birth and 5 years, with knowledge of children up to 7 years.
You will cover topics such as:
- Contributing to positive relationships
- Help to keep children safe
- Support children’s development
- Use support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development
- Prepare and maintain environments to meet children’s needs
- Support children’s play and learning.
The course includes 250 hours to be completed at placement, where skills will be evaluated.
