Course programme
This is an ideal programme for those who wish to improve their work skills in order to obtain a job or to advance in their training/workplace.
The programme leads to BTEC in Workskills, an internationally-recognised vocational qualification at Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), designed and accredited by Edexcel, the leading provider of internationally recognised qualifications.
BTEC in Workskills Level 3 qualifications are accepted by UKBA as appropriate for non-EU students and make a wonderful addition to any CV.
The programme consists of two stages:
1. Study period
· You will study for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
· The course consists of individual units, for example:
- Negotiation Skills and Persuasion in the Workplace
- Giving and Receiving Feedback
- Preparing for an interview
- Effectiveness at Work
- Personal Skills for Leadership
- Learning from Work Placement
Homestay accommodation can be arranged by Crest Schools of English for the duration of the study period upon request.
2. Work placement period
- You will have the opportunity to put into practice the skills which you have learnt on the course.
- You will be monitored and guided throughout your work placement.
- You will complete an assignment which will give you the opportunity to reflect on your work experience and to re-evaluate your own work skills.
You will collect credits for units by completing assignments in the form of presentations, reports, role-plays, research, etc. during your studies, as well as a practical assignment during your work placement. All assignments are internally assessed and once you have obtained enough credits, you will be awarded a BTEC in Workskills level 3 qualification (award or certificate).
Types of work placement
· A paid hospitality/health care work experience. You will be paid UK minimum wage (approximately £5.80 per hour for adults aged 22 years+ and £4.83 per hour for adults aged 18-21 years).
· Unpaid internship. This is a vocational work experience, e.g. in Marketing, Fashion, Finance, Law, Business, etc.
Conditions of work placement
· During your study period we will arrange a face-to-face or telephone interview for your placement. Following a successful interview, a placement will be offered.
· The work placement provided can be anywhere in the UK. Students cannot reject an offer due to its location or size.
· An application form must be filled in and sent to us along with a CV, Statement of Motivation and photo.
· All participants are advised to obtain police check and health check.
