Yoga for All
Summary
To increase mobility and develop an understanding of the relationship between body, breath and mind, for improved well-being.
About the Course
'The Mastery of Yoga must not be measured simply by the ability to master techniques of Yoga but how it influences our day to day living, how it enhances our relationships and how it promotes clarity and peace of mind' -
TKV Desikachar.
Yoga is a traditional discipline from India. It can improve our well being, in the widest sense of the word, and so allow us to function more effectively in life. It offers the opportunity to take time away from everyday stresses and responsibilities and recharge our system. This course will introduce a number of yoga postures (Asanas) and students will have the opportunity to practise these in lessons, students will learn how to breathe in a way that helps them to move through these postures effectively. Breathing techniques (Pranayama) will lead to gentle meditation.
Classes will be gentle, informal and relaxed. This type of yoga is adaptable so that everybody however old, young, stiff or unfit can benefit. However, if you have, or have had, an injury, pain, operation or illness that may effect your ability to carry out postures, or you are pregnant, please let your teacher know so the lessons can take account of this.
We will be following the teachings of Desikachar - an Indian guru who lives and works in Chennai and regularly travels throughout the world teaching and lecturing on his philosophies.
