About this course
The course is open to everyone. Although the exercises pose no real danger to those of average health, those who have recently had operations or suffer from heart disease, terminal illness or similar are advised to consult their doctor first before attending a course.

On this course you will learn and practice a number of yoga exercises which involve holding postures which create a stretch for different parts of the body.The class starts with a short warm up to prepare the muscles and joints for the stretches, and also a long relaxation period at the end of the class.

The class is practical and you will learn by observing the tutor and then practicing the yoga postures themselves with guidance from the tutor.
How to prepare thebody for yoga –warm up exercises.
How to do hold yoga postures and benefit from them.
How to relax following a class of practicing yoga postures.
Your tutor will discuss the course content with the class and may make some adjustments to the syllabus based on the needs of the group. They will also try to accommodate individual requirements where it is practical to do so. Your progress is noted by observation, and you will be able to reflect on your own development.
Are there specific requirements for joining?
The course is open to everyone. Although the exercises pose no real danger to those of average health, those who have recently had operations or suffer from heart disease, terminal illness or similar are advised to consult their doctor first before attending a course.
Will there be any homework and how long will it take?
You are encouraged to practice for at least 10 minutes a day.
What about equipment, clothing and materials?
No equipment is provided. You are advised to bring a yoga mat –a rubberised mat which prevents slipping. These can be purchased through mail order. Optional extras include foam blocks for using as props, belts or scarves to help with extending stretches. Please wear loose clothing, suitable for bending and stretching. Please also bring a pen and your glasses, if you need them.

From Joss Lane car park continue along Main Streetand take 1st left into New Street. The Methodist Hall is at the far end on the right. Limited parking at hall alternatively park in Joss Lane car park in the town centre. Access through main entrance, hall is on left.
