Intermediate Level Tiling

This tiling course is designed to accommodate total beginners who wish to develop basic skills in wall and floor tiling and work towards becoming a professional tile fixer where if needed, a further course can be taken at a later stage. This course is also ideal for those individuals who already have basic aptitude and would prefer to have a shorter intensive course.

The programme is divided into 8 main units. Students will acquire the understanding and skills required to execute wall and floor tiling at an intermediate level. The course provides 95% practical training and 5% theory.

Course Content

• Health & Safety induction
• Tools of the trade and their use
• Correct setting out techniques for kitchens and bathrooms
• Grouting / applying silicone sealants / finishing techniques
• Fixing walls tiles using cement based adhesive in straight/brickbond and diagonal patterns
• Indepth business start up training, including registering self-employed / tax & NI liabilities / managing accounts / marketing and quoting for work / how to price work correctly / business banking etc
• Correct cutting and use of moulded plastic angle trims
• Planning and fixing tiles around a window and reveal
• Aplication of tiles to box sections
• Cutting around plug sockets and fused spurs etc
• Setting out a straight laid floor tile pattern
