Are you interested in how people communicate with each other, whether face-to-face, through speech and non-verbal behaviour, or through the mass media, technology or cultural products such as popular music? If you enjoy watching people and the social world we live in, and are concerned about how you present yourself effectively to others, then this course is right for you! This A Level subject deals with the meanings of cultural practices and what we do, from shopping to social networking and from festival-going to celebrating a birthday, as well as cultural products, such as mobile phones and shoes. You will learn how to analyse and understand your own culture in relation to others and yourself in relation to your own culture. This subject develops a knowledge and understanding of a range of communication theories and forms in personal, cultural, national and global contexts. It focuses on personal communication and cultures of communication, in terms of how you interact with people, how you exchange ideas, how you influence others and are influenced yourself. The coursework element will enable you to explore communication theory through practical applications. Communication and Culture is a wide-ranging subject, which fits in well with most other subjects, especially those to do with the study of people and human behaviour. We have a 100% A2 success rate on this course and excellent feedback from our past students. Some of our past students have progressed on to study Philosophy at the University of Warwick, Media at Bristol University, Economics at the University of Wolverhampton and the University of Stafford, Politics at Bristol University, Marketing at Birmingham City University and Business and Management at Aberystwyth University. While you are on this course you will have the opportunity to visit A Level Student Conferences. We also have guest speakers who we invite in to college to enhance your learning. These have included the AQA...
