As an apprentice, you will spend the majority of your week working for a care provider and learning in the workplace. There is no need for you to attend college.
To achieve the Apprenticeship you will need to complete a number of qualifications including the NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Functional Skills*. You will cover a variety of units which could include:
· Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs
· Assist in the administration of medicine
· Support individuals to undertake and monitor their own health care
· Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being
of individuals.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments are carried out through practical skills assessments and observations of you at work. A Personal Assessor will make regular visits to your workplace to carry out reviews of your progress and to ensure that you are on target to gain your qualifications.
How long will it take?
The time taken for you to achieve your Apprenticeship will depend on how well you get on at work, but most of all, it will depend on your own
commitment and motivation to complete your training. As a general
rule, an Apprenticeship will take 9-15 months.

Progress to a Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care, the BTEC National Diploma in Care, or another Level 3 course in a different subject area.

Or continue your exciting and rewarding career in the health and
social care sector.
Achieving this Apprenticeship will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
* You may be exempt if you have recently achieved a good grade in English and Maths at GCSE.
Entry Requirements
We recommend you have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades C-G, however all applications will be considered. In your interview at the College you must also demonstrate an interest in working within health and social care and a willingness to learn. Having a relevant job (for a minimum of 16 hours per week), or in some cases, a work placement, is an essential part of an Apprenticeship. You will need to put in time and effort to find an employer to offer you an Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship
