Course Content

At level 4, in addtion to studying two language modules, you will through Study and Employability Skills, develop and build on the necessary research and information technology skills required in a qualification at honours degree level and to work effectively in the industry. Global Travel Destinations examines a variety of tourism destinations from around the world and investigates what makes them popular and successful with the tourist. This module also introduces the role of the travel trade in the industry.

Contemporary Tourism brings both a topical and international flavour to your study by examining niche markets and emerging/growing forms of tourism. Introduction to Management provides you with key knowledge and skills in relation to working as part of an organisation today.

At level 5, Transportation Operations for Tourism focuses on the exciting area of airline and airport management in addition to other transport sectors. You will cover Business Research Methods and Human Resource Issues and then have a choice between Landscape Change and Tourism or MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions). You will also further develop your language knowledge and skills.

As you progress into level 6 specialist modules such as eBusiness Strategy examine the importance of digital marketing and commerce to the industry and it will develop your knowledge and skills in areas such web design and planning, social media marketing strategy and mobile app development as applied in the industry. Tourism Planning, Development and Management explores key planning issues at a number of important levels. You also have the opportunity to study Festival and Cultural Tourism and undertake either a Research Paper in an area of topical interest or develop a Business Plan on a concept you feel passionate about. You will also develop further your study of language and culture.
