About the course:
The Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the assessment is based on the candidate showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification.
Course Content:
- Carry out safe working practices
- Information, quantities and communication
- Building methods and construction technology
- Carry out basic blocklaying and bricklaying skills
- Build cavity walling up to damp course level
- Contribute to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level.
Learning Style:
The course will offer the Learning Styles of V.A.R.K which comprises of:
- Visual
- Auditory
- Reading/Writing
- Kinaesthetics
Equipment Requirements:
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
- 2H Pencil
- Pen
- Ruler
- Rubber
WORKSHOP ACTIVITIES
- Adequate Safety Footwear
- Bib and brace/overalls
Assessment:
Assessments are sub divided into two sections:
- Practical competences and skills
- Job knowledge questions and/or assignments
Progression:
Once you have achieved this unit it would be advantageous to find an Employer to gain an apprenticeship through City Training.
Alternatively you could progress to the Diploma level 2 in Trowel Occupations

Punctuality and attendance (minimum 80%) must be adhered to achieve this accreditation.
