What will I study?
This course provides the underpinning knowledge and practical training for a nursery/ classroom assistant, it will also provide the student with the knowledge and understanding of working under supervision with young children in a wide range of settings. Students are required to attend placements 2 days a week, covering the age range of 0 to 7 years & 11 months. (College attendance is 3 days per week.)

How can I progress?
Employment in an Early Years setting as a nursery assistant, or progression onto the Diploma in Childcare & Education.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course students will need; *A minimum of two GCSEs at grade D - one must be in English Language or an appropriate level 1 qualification, *To pass a college interview and provide a good record of achievement with two references, *A CRB check.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *An introduction to working with children, *The developing child, *Safe, healthy and nurturing environments for children, *Children and Play, *Communication and Professional skills within childcare and education; *The childcare practitioners optional unit, Candidates will also sit a multiple choice paper at the end of the course.
