Qualification:
City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Community Mental Health Work. Your tutor will also work closely with you to set and agree suitable challenging personal and subject goals. We take care to plan a programme of learning which meets your needs and helps you to progress at your own pace. You can develop confidence and self esteem, as well the subject skills.

Course Content:
The focus is on what you need to know when you first start work in this area. You will study 5 units as follow; Principles and values in mental health work; The experience of mental distress; Effective communication in mental health work; Working in a mental health environment; Developing as a mental health worker.

The Moving Forward Programme at City College is a programme of courses for learners who experience mental health difficulties. We make positive steps to reach out and teach socially excluded groups and engage with the city¿s diverse ethnic and cultural groups.

Progression:
At the end of each course, students will have the opportunity to discuss their options with a member of the Supported Learning team
