CLAIT Plus has been designed to accredit a broad range of IT skills and will prepare students for the needs of the IT-based workplace. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of each unit. A Level 2 Certificate for IT Users is awarded upon successful completion of Unit 1 plus two optional units. Introduction
CLAIT Plus has been designed to accredit a broad range of IT skills and will prepare students for the needs of the IT-based workplace. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of each unit. A Level 2 Certificate for IT Users is awarded upon successful completion of Unit 1 plus two optional units. The diploma is awarded upon achievement of Unit 1 plus four optional units. Competence is assessed by means of practical assignments.
Course Content
The following units are available:
Integrated Document Production
Create documents, integrate files from different applications and use mail merge facilities and formatting techniques in order to produce integrated business documents
Manipulating Spreadsheets and Graphs
Use Excel to create, edit and format a spreadsheet. Understand the use of complex formulae and create a variety of graphs and charts.
Creating and Using a Database
Use Access to create, maintain and interrogate a database file. Create queries using multiple selection criteria and generate reports.
Publication Design
Use Publisher to produce and print a publication including imported text and image files. Demonstrate understanding of page layout and ability to respond to a design brief.
Design a Presentation
Use PowerPoint to produce a presentation using a master slide. Apply transitions, timings and hyperlinks. Print in a variety of formats.
Website Creation
Use FrontPage to create web pages from unformatted source material. Format images, text and tables and create hyperlinks. Create and format an interactive form.
Electronic Communication
Use Outlook to transmit and receive e-mail messages and attachments. Organise messages, use address book, set diary entries and manage mailbox and folders.
Entry Requirements
CLAiT Level 1
Duration
Approximately 30 hours per unit are needed to acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to demonstrate competence.
Assessment
There is no fixed assessment date. Each application will be assessed when the required standard has been reached.
