Description of the Course
With the increased publicity surrounding recent outbreaks of Legionnaires, effective water treatment is of paramount importance to those carrying out installation & maintenance of hot & cold water supply systems and to those who are responsible for managing the properties and for employed and self employers workers who will be working on water storage systems, for Hostels, Charities, Universities & Colleges, Local Authorities, Managing Agents, Landlords in the private sector, Housing Associations, Hoteliers, B&B, Guest house and Holiday Camp owners.
The Legionella and water treatment course is designed to enable installers to understand the requirements of applicable regulations, HSE guidance (ACoP), British Standards and Water Regulations.

Furthermore it gives them an appreciation of the Legionella bacteria, its formation and associated health risks. On completion of the course the installer will be able to undertake risk assessments and carry out disinfection using a range of methods.

Course content
The course will cover the following areas during the training & assessment

· General information for employers andowners of residential accommodation
· Water regulations (commissioning/cold water systems)
· Risk assessment - hot and cold water systems
· Controlling the risks associated with spa baths
· Water treatment and legionnaires' disease
· Physical disinfection
· There will be a practical session on the use of Chemical disinfection
· Chlorine
· Chlorine dioxide
· Silver Hydrogen Peroxide

Assessment
The theory assessment will confirm your understanding of the guidelines, responsibilities and legal requirements in the ACoP and guidance note L8 and how to introduce effective control measures.
Please bring 2 passport size photographs with you.
