Course programme
Develop your English language skills in a university environment. The English for University Studies (EUS) course provides you with an opportunity to develop your general English skills and introduces academic English for university study.
The EUS course has been designed for International students whose first language is not English and who would like to progress onto an academic course at Anglia Ruskin or another university. We also welcome applicants who are interested in taking a general English language course for their own personal development (and do not intend to apply for an academic course) and prefer to study in a university environment.
During the course you will have the opportunity to practice key English language skills including accuracy and fluency in English, extending vocabulary and developing your English skills effectively in reading, writing, speaking and listening. There will also be an introduction to academic skills including note taking, formal written assignments, and seminar discussion. As well as classes on IELTS preparation for the IELTS test that you will take at the end of the course.
At the LSU we use interactive teaching methods to develop your confidence in communicating in English. Classes will consist of lecture based lessons, as well as one-to-one tutorials to discuss your progress and provide additional support where required. As part of the course we also include independent study, during which time you will have full access to our multi-media language centre to further support your development.
During your course you will have the opportunity to join a number of social events both on and off campus that will help you practice your English in an informal environment, learn about British culture and help you settle into university life.
