The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a new qualification which enables you to choose an area of interest, related to one or more of your A level courses, and to produce a project based on this. Projects may take the form of a dissertation, an investigation/field study, a performance or an artefact. You would be expected to start work on the EPQ in the summer term after your AS exams, and would need to produce a product proposal before the end of term. Some work would also need to be done during the summer holidays. The final deadline for work is likely to be the following February. You will be supported by a project mentor, but a great deal of the work must be produced independently. The EPQ is well regarded by universities and provides an opportunity to carry out work which may be related to university course choices.
