Course description
A BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work-related course and provides both a broad foundation of business education and a firm basis for specialising in event management. The Diploma is taught in an adult environment and has been created to meet the rapidly changing needs of the business world. All aspects of business will be studied including finance, marketing and management with an emphasis on managing events. A growing trend in the events industry is organising global events and therefore you will be introduced to the range of business activity in public, private and voluntary sectors at local, national and global levels. This 18-unit BTEC National Diploma prepares you for employment or entry to higher education.

14 specialist units enable you to study particular areas in relation to event management in greater depth, these include:

Final award
BTEC National Diploma in Event Management (Business Management) - equivalent to three GCE A levels.

Entry requirements
4 Grade C GCSE in suitable areas including Maths and English or a Merit in a Level 2 course together with Application of Number and Communication passes at Level 2.

Additional information
Students learn by completing assignments and projects, many of which will be based around actual events. Assignments will therefore are based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands. Each BTEC National Diploma unit is assessed internally and is subject to standards moderation by the examining board. The method of study covers a variety of learning modes including lectures, individual support, practical workshops and group work. You will build a portfolio of your course work, graded at pass, merit or distinction which in turn will be used to calculate your final award.
