Course Description: A BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing projects based on realistic workplace situations and demands. As well as learning about the Public Services sector, you will develop the skills you need to start a career in this area.

The course is equivalent to three A levels which means on successful completion of the course you can enter employment or progress into higher education. A BTEC National Diploma is equally suitable for school leavers and mature students.

Modules studied include:

• Understanding Aspects of the Legal System and Law Making Processes
• Understanding the Criminal Justice System
• Understanding Discipline
• Team Development in Public Services
• Skills for Land Based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
• Diversity
• Government Policies and the Public Sector
• Citizenship, Contemporary Society and the Public Services

Entry Requirements:

• A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above or
• First Diploma, NVQ Level 2 or Intermediate GNVQ qualification or
• Appropriate work experience

Progression/Career Opportunities: A career in Public Services such as Police, Armed Forces or Prison Service or progression onto the HND Public Services course at Bridgend College or a Higher Education programmes at University.
