Description of course:
A new vocational qualification leading to a professional career within the Construction and Built Environment. The course concentrates on the needs of the Built Environment from planning, design, organising through to the maintenance of the Building and the Environment. Special attention is given to the needs of the Community and Sustainability making this a special course leading to a variety of career pathways. Project based and involving employer visits and site locations, this different approach to study will suit those who are self motivated and able to work in project teams.

Method of assessment:
The main area of study is by unit assessment internally marked, some units are externally assessed and moderated. Project working is the key to success and showing the ability to be a team player is very important in the construction industry. Guidance and assessment plan will be given at the start of the course.

Progression opportunities and careers:
You may choose to seek employment or continue full time study. Employment should be with part time release to a National Certificate in Construction or Civil Engineering. Full time study would progress to the Advanced Level Diploma or the National Diploma in Construction.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 2 GCSEs at D grade or above including English, Maths and/or Science or an appropriate Foundation Level Diploma or other full Level 1 vocational programme.
