Course Description
The First Diploma programme is an excellent starting point for studying Art & Design in a college environment. Each term you are set assignment briefs on different topics, which include: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, 3D Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography and Contextual Studies.

Entry Requirements
You will need to display your portfolio of previous work in an interview with College staff, a test in literacy and numeracy, plus 4 GCSEs at grades D ? G, and a BTEC Introductory qualification at Level 1.

Assessment Methods
All units are graded P (Pass), M (Merit) or D (Distinction). Learners are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in each unit to qualify for qualification grade.

Progression
The Level 3 National Diploma in Art & Design (or Photography) can prepare you for employment in the creative industries and can be taken after this Level 2 qualification.

BTEC First Diploma in Art, Design & Media, Level 2. Certificate in Employability Level 2. Skills For Life qualifications in Communications, Number and ICT.
