Garden history - an introduction
Your Course
This short course is an initial introduction to whet the appetite for more in depth intere/study.
The four evening sessions will be based on discussion punctuated with visual aids, including publications, slides and maps/plans
The course will consider garden/landscape design and its influences through British history with reference to the international scene, religion, politics and the aristocracy.
The day visits (Saturdays 10am - 4pm) will include visits to gardens, museums or and galleries, dependent on the time of year and relevant current exhibitions.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have had the opportunity to:
· Receive the background research guidance to investigate further a garden, designer or project
· Learn to understand the influences that have shaped the garden landscape.
Your Tutor
Lee Steele first studied Commercial Horticulature at Oaklands, Hertfordshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture. She subsequently worked in garden design and garden centre management. She recently concluded her Garden History Diploma with the University of Cambridge Further Education Programme. Lee still designs gardens and researches garden history projects.

Tuition fees: £90
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
